Notice of Regulatory Change Regarding Audiology Supervised Clinical Experience
Protection of the public is the highest priority for the Board when exercising its licensing, regulatory, and disciplinary functions. To protect the public, the Board sets standards and requirements for the minimum supervised clinical experience required for initial licensure as an audiologist.
This regulatory change clarified the supervised clinical experience requirements for applicants of an audiology license. Specifically, for audiology applicants this regulatory change does the following:
- Clarifies that that the "supervised clinical experience," "clinical experience" or "clinical practicum" have the same meaning as "supervised clinical practice" or "clinical practice,""
- Updates the cross-reference in the regulation to include Business and Professions Code section 2532.25,
- Clarifies that a dispensing audiologist can provide supervision during the audiology clinical experience, and
- Clarifies that a total of 300 clinical clock hours of experience across three different clinical settings is required of applicants who completed their graduate program on or after January 1, 1993.
