Information on How to Become a Subject Matter Expert
The SLPAHADB Enforcement Program is seeking qualified speech-language pathologists, audiologists, dispensing audiologists and hearing aid dispensers to review case materials, prepare written opinions and, on occasion testify at administrative hearings as a subject matter expert.
If you wish to provide this vital service to your community and be considered by the Board as a subject matter expert, you must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a current and valid California SLP, AU, DAU or HA license.
- Possess 3 or more years of experience and expertise in your particular field.
- Have no pending complaints or discipline against your license or any health care related license in California or in any other state.
- Have no criminal conviction, including any that were expunged or dismissed.
- Agree to the current reimbursement rate of $100.00 per hour for case review and preparation of the expert opinion report and $150 per hour plus expenses if called to testify at an administrative hearing of consult with a Deputy Attorney General.
- Are willing to testify at administrative hearings when necessary.
- Attend periodic training by SLPAHADB regarding services as a subject matter expert.
